  • A 35mm film portrait of a woman wearing hiking clothing sits on a camping mat in the Lake District. Guiding services and mountain leader in the UK.

“Walking in the Lake District with Sam has been an absolute joy. She has a good knowledge of the walking trails, and genuine passion for the outdoors to make every hike fun. Definitely worth saying she knows all about hike packing and advises me on so many things (e.g. not to take all my hygiene products with me that took 1/3 of my backpack 😂). No matter your experience level, Sam’s ability to adapt the route accordingly shows both skill and care. Sam is not just a great mountain leader—she’s a fantastic person to share your journey with and P.S. you will also have amazing pics after. 😍”

“Samantha is such a caring and resourceful guide, always making sure everything’s organised for the next day. My favourite memory in Tajikistan was climbing the highest peak together — she was sick with a stomach bug, I was struggling with the altitude, but she kept encouraging me all the way to the top. She even spotted tiny bird eggs hidden among the rocks! She’s the kind of person who turns lemons into lemonade. I’d love to do another tour with Sam.”

“‘A guide who leads from her heart’
I've worked with many mountain leaders over the years, but Sam brings something genuinely different to the role. When she took me out in the Lakes, it was a highly original experience – orienteering with humour and real warmth.
Most leaders naturally lead with their heads, and that makes sense – mountain leadership is about safety, navigation, and sound decision-making. Sam has all those skills. But what makes her unique is that she leads from her heart. She cares deeply about people, and that authenticity comes through in her work.
She can do the same job as other mountain leaders, but she does it with personality – with genuine connection. Where others might focus purely on technique and safety protocols, Sam creates an experience that feels personal and human. There's something rare about finding someone who combines technical competence with emotional intelligence and feminine energy in the mountains. Sam has both. She's skilled, she's safe, and she brings an authenticity that transforms what could be a standard day out into something genuinely special.
If you want a highly original experience with someone who brings both competence and real heart to mountain leadership, Sam is your woman.”

    VAKARIS

"As a group guide, Samantha wonderfully manages to combine humour, encouragement and her inner authenticity. When it's difficult, she lets us, her fellow travellers, know that it's difficult not only for us. And that's the greatest boost for her guided group to continue on our journey in Tajikistan forward and upward."

“Samantha is an outstanding hiking guide with a strong command of route planning, safety, and preparation. Her knowledge of trails is matched by her ability to tailor hikes to all skill levels, always balancing challenge and comfort. What sets her apart in particular is her encouraging presence. Samantha offers practical advice and steady motivation. If you're looking for a guide who combines technical skill, heartfelt support and a passion for the outdoors, Samantha is the one.”

“As a solo female hiker, I wanted detailed and strenuous enough routes for my trip to Madeira. More importantly, I needed to feel safe as this was my first solo hiking trip abroad. Samantha’s writing provided me with that - through extremely detailed, informative guides and advice to put me at ease, down to where to park when starting off routes. Her guidance felt like she was right there with me.”

"Samantha Jagger has great leadership instincts.  She’s a highly motivated, “can do” hiker and guide. She plots and directs natural outdoor “trails” and climbs suitable for the group’s skill level.  And she smoothly navigates the “trials” of working with the personalities associated with varying group dynamics! Even while guiding, she’s got a keen eye for nature’s inhabitants: flora and fauna alike.  Her enthusiasm reminded me to be sure to take in the surrounding area, and not just focus on my feet!  Having hiked and wandered with Samantha in Scotland and Switzerland, I can appreciate the efforts she put into organizing our small group adventures.  The bonus was she gently pushed me to test my personal comfort zone, and inspired confidence in my (hopefully) growing abilities.  I look forward to more laughs and adventures with Samantha in the near future."

“For our recent hiking trip, Samantha booked accommodations in a hostel near Glarus in the Swiss Alps. Samantha took us hiking every day in the mountains. She chose routes that were just right for our abilities. She pointed out animals we may have missed, like the chamois on the mountainside. She talked about the plants we saw, and found an area with lots of blueberries that we were able to pick. She made it so much fun! She was always encouraging, helpful, and very safety conscious. I look forward to traveling with her on more adventures in the future. She is an excellent guide!”
